We were part of a historic moment – one of our factories celebrated its 700th anniversary. Fábrica de Municiones de Granada is located in the southern part of Spain, in the Andalusia region, and it was in the spirit of Andalusian traditions that the event was held in honour of the once-in-a-hundred-year anniversary.
The FMG courtyard was filled with guests from all over the world on Friday 31 May. Business partners, government representatives and prominent representatives of the defence industry gathered on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the first written mention of the FMG.
In the spirit of Andalusian traditions
A tasting of the best of authentic Andalusian cuisine was accompanied by performances by Spanish artists. Guests were able to experience lively flamenco and taste the colourful, tasty and healthy cuisine typical of the Mediterranean region. The hosts did not deny their passion for the traditions that are truly rich for the Andalusian region.
The anniversary also caught the attention of the media
Media from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Spain were also interested in taking part in this exceptional event. They visited the factory or the museum, which is an essential part of the FMG and which hides many rare specimens. Its walls are lined with portraits of all the previous generals, including that of the current CEO. On display is the historical visitors’ book in which the famous Evita Peron signed her name, the slippers worn by King Alfonso XIII when he came to collect his hunting powder and many historical documents. On display are all the products that were or are manufactured at FMG.
During the media briefing there were many questions and just as many answers. As a result, the journalists gathered enough information and material to be able to show this unique in the defense industry to the general public as well.
Renovating the garden
To mark this important anniversary, several fountains were reactivated and the entrance garden was renovated. From now on, this beautiful space will welcome not only guests, but every employee who passes daily through the entrance gate of this unique factory – Fábrica de Municiones de Granada.
