As the projectile is fired and is propelled along the barrel, a portion of the propellant gas is tapped and retained within a chamber within the piston assembly. As soon as the projctile leaves the gun muzzle, the high-pressure gas contained within this chamber forces the piston to the rear, extending the six tailfins, these lock in place and proide the in-flight stabilisation.
On impact with a target, the piezoelectric element generates the electrical charge required by the PIBD fuze function, detonating the projectile´s HE filling.
The resultant detonation collapses the liner onto its own axis of symmetry producing a hypersonic metallic jet that penetrates the target armour.
Can be used also 106 MM TP M34V version. This cartridge is used for 106 mm guns (M40A2 and M40A1C recoilless rifles). It is used for firing and aiming practices.
